FAQ

The questions we actually get.

Short answers grounded in the Method, Ethics, and the Hack Atlas. If you need a vocational cyber course, this is not it.

How is HACKERS different from a hacking bootcamp or cybersecurity degree?
HACKERS is a selective college for ethical systems thinkers, not a vocational CTF or cyber-defence academy. We train SCAN / FLIP / BUILD / BREAK / PROVE, and we study turning points in the Hack Atlas — permission chains, trust boundaries, inherited trust, observability integrity — as architecture. We do not teach unauthorised access, payloads, or operational exploitation. Authorise / Test / Improve. Read The Method and the Ethics charter.
Is HACKERS a computer-science school?
No. Fellows come from product, operations, design, energy, finance, security, and other fields. We select for perception, ethical judgment, and the ability to see around corners — not for a particular degree.
Where is HACKERS based?
HACKERS is London-rooted and works with people worldwide. The institutional address is hackers.college. Studio correspondence: studio@hackers.college.
How does admissions work?
Apply through the five-step signal: what is misunderstood, the reframe, the ethical line, evidence of work, and how we reach you. Shortlisted candidates receive a timed, authorised systems-thinking challenge. The form is a prototype intake — submit, keep your reference, and email studio@hackers.college so the signal persists.
What is the Hack Atlas?
A public library of deep case studios. Each file is a turning point drawn as calculus, planes, taxonomy, defence, a 48-hour brief, and FAQs. File 001 is grant calculus (the translation that became a command). Later files include process versus picture, form versus intent, contradiction calculus, and trust-graph calculus. Atlas is educational and defensive. The Signal (journal) is essays; Atlas is the studio.
What is the difference between The Signal and the Hack Atlas?
The Signal is the journal: short essays on method, AI safety, energy, and ethics. The Hack Atlas is the case library: full studios with diagrams, protocols, and audits. Journal points at the rule. Atlas makes you draw it.
Does HACKERS Supply take payment?
Not in this prototype. The bag lives in your browser. Checkout does not collect card data. If a future issue takes payment, a dedicated processor will hold the instrument — not HACKERS.
Do you teach people to break into systems?
No. Curiosity is not a defence. Work that cannot be taught as a defence or a better alternative does not belong here. See Ethics & Safety.
Who should employers talk to?
Employers hire HACKERS alumni for the hard part — when a system needs a new route, not another maintainer. Use the Employers page or write to studio@hackers.college.
